end of the year

The end of the school year is nearing and the art assignments are rolling in. Over the last few months I have been watching the students do wonderful things. Some of my favorite pieces I have seen a lot this year was the work they were doing with cardboard. At the beginning of March, I got to see a friend of mine and his TAB workshop as he was introducing the TAB philosophy to the participants. The center he chose to introduce was cardboard. I have the cardboard located in my construction center. I brought the info back to the students and then watched as they transformed some cardboard into incredible pieces of art. So here are some of my students' artwork:

architectural letters created with cardboard and packaging tape

castle collaborate work between 4 students

cookie oven created with cardboard and wrapped with tissue paper

show choir stage created with cardboard, popsicle sticks and felt

hunger games flames created with cardboard and tissue paper

long winter months.......

It seems like every other day it is snowing or it is freezing. IT sure does make for long winter months. One good thing is, the students seem to find inspiration anywhere they can no matter how cold or snowy it is outside. I just love what creative ideas the students come up with......it is so cool to watch and amazes me every day. I just love my job.

Here are some of the ones I think are really cool....

ideas come from anywhere like making the best out of a wet day
.....or at the junior high level sports is always an art inspiration
......or a movie prop like a villain's helmet
.....or one's anime character

the imagination at the 4th grade level could be anything like the hands on a portfolio being the lock to open up the portfolio.....now how cool is that????
.....or just loving art

epgjh winter concert 2013

It is that time of year when the students come together and show their talents with their voices and instruments. Ms. K and I decided it would be also a fine time to show the students' talents in Art.  I think the students did a fabulous job creating the various art pieces that interest them. I know we are pleased with the outcome of the art assignments.

when a song inspires art.....

This past rotation of art at the junior high a student was inspired by a song that a fellow student was singing in class.......Can anyone guess the song?

If you guessed Pontoon by Little Big Town you are right. I love the Christmas lights and the little ladder.
